Our organisation is WA Police approved and industry preferred supplier of quality security and crowd control training. We have been delivering this training for over 18 years.

A crowd controller is someone authorised to monitor or control the behaviour of people, screen people for entry or remove people due to behavioural reasons. A crowd controller is required at licensed premises, places of entertainment, public and private events and functions. If you have the crowd control units it gives you more scope for employment, so most people chose to do this qualification.

Paragon delivers this course over 112 hours in-class training, this is a mandatory requirement set down by the WA Police Licencing department. However, If you have previous qualifications or experience in the industry we maybe able to reduce the required number of days. You can apply for our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.

After completing your training, and applying for employment the fact that you have chosen Paragon for your training will give you an advantage as we are known in the industry for the high level of training we provide. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you have previously completed security training or been licenced as a security officer you may wish to consider applying for recognition of prior learning.

RPL is a form of assessment that assesses the competency of an individual that may have been achieved through formal or non-formal learning. This is used to determine the extent to which the person meets the requirements specified in the training package or accredited course.

RPL should not be confused with providing credit for prior studies, which is not a form of assessment – it is recognising the equivalence of studies previously undertaken and completed successfully. Where a student presents evidence that they have completed one or more units or modules through another RTO or AQF authorised issuing organisation (e.g. AQF certification documentation or an authenticated VET transcript), the RTO must accept and provide credit for the unit(s) or module(s) completed.Learners must not be required to repeat any unit or module in which they have already been assessed as competent. The only exception is when doing so is a license condition or a regulatory requirement.

Please note that there is a $250.00 RPL fee to be paid prior to your RPL application being reviewed.

This is not an extra cost but simply comes off the cost of the full RPL price or the cost of the course should you be required to do some or all of the units. This is called ‘refreseher-training’.

    Fee Structure

The full cost of RPL for the Certificate II in Security Operations (Security Guard & Crowd Control) is broken down as follows:

    Application Fee: $250.00 (non-refundable)

    RPL fee $380.00

Total: $630. 00 (Full RPL price with some refresher training. Refresher training is essential to best prepare for the compulsory WA Police licensing knowledge test. You must pass this test prior to your licence being issued, irrespective of whether you are deemed competent by any RTO.)

    First Aid cost if required:

First Aid 2 Day course $120.00

    First Aid 1 Day refresher $ 90.00

Please note that by paying your application fee this does not guarantee your RPL application will be successful; it is your responsibility as the applicant to provide sufficient evidence to support your claim that you already possess the skills and knowledge of the units you are applying for.

Paragon Training will assess your evidence and provide you with our opinion as to whether you will be likely to have enough evidence to succeed in ‘full RPL’ for a qualification where no training is required. The decision will then be yours as to how you continue.

If you wish to proceed then we will require the following:

    • Enrolment Form
    • Photo Identification
    • Current resume (compulsory)
    • Copies of any previous qualifications
    • Copy of current first aid certificate
    • Employee or third party references
    • Application Fee as explained above

Once we have received the application fee we will provide you with the RPL kit in hard copy or by email which consists of RPL questions to demonstrate required knowledge and a Candidate kit to demonstrate experience, skills and further qualifications that you may have.
