The fire and rescue service generally do not seek applicants for trainee
firefighters on an ongoing basis, like the police service do. They are
likely to advertise for applicants in the employment section of the newspaper
as the need arises. For example in WA the fire and rescue service advertise
for applicants only about once a year. The selection process may change
from State to State however generally the selection process covers similar
skills and attributes. You may be expected to complete the following tasks
as part of your application for the fire and rescue service.
1. Address selection criteria: For example:
a) Understand and be committed to the values of an organisation for
the benefit of the community.
b) Demonstrated commitment to community service.
c) Be able to manage stressful situations.
d) Communicate with and actively relate to and work with people of different
gender and diverse backgrounds.
OR
2. Complete a personal history – 200 word summary about yourself,
