How do I become a private investigator in Perth?

To become a private investigator in Perth, you will need to acquire the relevant investigations qualifications, accredited by the Western Australian Police, namely – CPP30619 Certificate III in Investigative Services. Once you have completed your qualifications, you will need to obtain a licence from the Western Australian Police.

All of our courses at Paragon are recognised & approved by the WA Police Force and can cater to experienced investigators to complete beginners. It’s important to note that Paragon’s Investigations courses require computer skills as well as excellent use of spoken and written English language in terms of syntax, punctuation and English grammar.

What do private investigators do?

Private investigators (PIs) are involved in investigative work, in a myriad of contexts. Investigations may be related, but not limited to:

How do I get my Investigator Agent’s Licence?

As a private Investigator you may wish to become an “Enquiry Agent” for which you will require an additional licence.

Inquiry Agent Licence – Western Australia
Description

You will need this licence to act as an inquiry agent. An inquiry agent is a person who advertises or supplies the services of investigators. An investigator is someone who conducts for remuneration investigations into the conduct of individuals or organisations. This includes surveillance activities, and investigations into missing persons.
This licence only covers the advertisement and supply of investigators. You will need a separate licence to work as an investigator. You will need to be licensed as an inquiry agent and an investigator to carry out work as a sole trader.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

      • be at least 18 years old
      • be a fit and proper person
      • ensure there is adequate management, supervision and control of your business
      • have sufficient financial resources to meet your financial obligations
      • undertake a pre-licence test.

You may need to have your fingerprints and palm prints recorded.

How much does it cost for investigations training in Perth?
